Men’s 2s 4 - 0 Hampstead & Westminster 2s (A)

Gameday: 23rd November 2024

By Scott 'Ding' Pearce

M2 defy Storm Bert to Notch Another Win Under the Lights at Hampstead & Westminster

HT 1-0; FT 4-0

Goals:
Scott Jones PC 14’
Ben Hanson FG 48’
Scott Pearce FG 59’
Josh Redstone FG (reverse of course) 69’

At 8am I arose to a grumble outside, Storm Bert had arrived and to this I was surprised.
Rumours in the chat of a whirling wind, any excuses for a ball being thinned

A late push back, 6pm to be precise
Under the lights at Paddington Rec, oh a game to entice
A meet in the changing room, flooded with water
Frankie gave us some tactics to put their team to the slaughter
Beanhead at the helm, getting the boys started
And Redders storytelling about his ex and why they finally parted

We stepped onto the pitch and we were ready to go
Max and the boys were to put on a show
The first five mins were all about the Seals
Ducking and diving and making them squeal
Lars breaking legs and Haspel dancing round
Their defence were bamboozled, when Surbi came to town

Scott J with the first, a lovely (if slow) flick
A little bit lucky that the postman forgot his stick
Piling on the pressure, we lost Morgs at the back
Some problem with his a**e, but I’ll leave it at that
Scotty Evans in the middle, being lively and quick
Rhys stablising the ship from the back, our play was becoming slick

The second quarter was a bit more tense
The umps making calls that were complete nonsense
HT arrived, still 1-0 up and feeling good
A few words later, everything was understood

The second half started, end to end we went
A lead to be preserved, their team wading through cement
The chances were minimal, little for Dewi to do
Thank goodness for that, he normally lets in from from two

Tiki-Taka between the boys, a special sight to see
The ball came to their keeper, who was living carefree
A lacklustre clearance fell straight to our man Ben
Who put the ball away and that was surely Amen

We held up strong, keeping their attacks minimal
With a break on the counter, this looked like the pinnacle
A one two with Hansen, I found myself free
On the side of the box,  my eyes lit up with glee
An ambitious sliding reverse with no connection
Some might say, great deception…

Although it was a shocker, heads did not drop
Balls came into the D and the goals didn’t stop
One from myself and another from Redders
The Hampstead boys were now deaders

4-0 to the boys, an awesome win away
Sending the boys up the table, oh what a day
Post match teas did disappoint
A bland curry and rice, they should defo sack that joint

The object this week was an item from uni or school
A lot of weird things that were pretty ‘uncool’
The journey home was joyous, the boys had bagged another three
Second in the table, why don’t you look and see

Next week, a Sunday trip to the seaside in Brighton
Another three points set us up for a well earned Xmas break.
