3rd March 2024

Team: Tony Haycroft GK, Ollie Treherne, Nick Sait, Stephen Hardy, Jon Bowen, Jim Hey (Capt), Rob Stone, Andy Carlisle, Harry Hodge, Trevor Mallinson and guests Bradley Mallinson and Findlay Marsh

Umpires: Theirs, thank you.

DOD: Secured by yours truly for a single indiscretion, where O where is lady justice?!

A tale of 16 Barnes young men destined for top table glory against 12 Jokers with two stalwart 13 years olds in Findlay and Bradley thrust into the cauldron of adult combat. Fierce resistance met with wave after wave of attack until the cracks appeared and the defences breached. A glimmer of hope by a Stoner PC piledriver was a false dawn. Throughout it all the Jokers’ indomitable spirit did not break as “human intelligence” was deployed but the unbeaten run had to end as Barnes ran out worthy winners.

“Saturday Afternoon Fever” was “Stayin’ Alive”

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a goalie man, use time to talk Surbiton proud and armour warm, I've been kicking around Since I was born And now it's alright, it's okay And you may look the other way We can try to understand The Barnes’ 3s effect on man

Whether you're a sweeper or whether you're a keeper You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive Feel the defence breakin' and everybody shakin' And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive Oh, when you walk

Well now, I get low and I get high And if I can't get either, I really try Got the wings of Heaven on my shoes I'm a winning' man but we did just lose You know it's alright, it's okay We'll live to see another day We can try to understand The Barnes’ 3s effect on man

Whether you're a sweeper or whether you're a keeper

Not stayin' alive, stayin' alive Feel the defence breakin' and everybody shakin'

Not stayin' alive, stayin' alive Ah, ha, ha, ha, not stayin' alive, stayin' alive (oh) Ah, ha, ha, ha, not stayin' alive (oh)

Mid goin' nowhere, somebody help me Somebody help me, yeah Mid goin' nowhere, somebody help me, yeah No longer stayin' alive

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a goalie man, use time to talk Surbiton proud and armour warm, I've been kicking around Since I was born And now it's alright, it's okay And you may look the other way We can try to understand The Barnes’ 3s effect on man

Whether you're a sweeper or whether you're a keeper No longer stayin' alive, stayin' alive Mid goin' nowhere, somebody help me, yeah No longer stayin' alive
