With Hampstead & Westminster ‘Hunt’ in second place breathing down Surbiton's necks, it was vital that Surbiton Rovers came away with something from South London other than plaudits.
With the city in the distance behind the pavillion, Surbiton Rovers put in a huge shift today. Their fantastic effort was rewarded with an even more fantastic result. Who said hard work doesn't count?!
A tense affair saw Surbiton press and commit players forward looking for a goal. TH&D Cobras regularly hit Surbiton on the break and only Ilsa's pace to intercept and a vital save from Scarlett kept the game scoreless. HT 0-0.
A goal mouth scramble midway through the second half saw Lauren pop up to get the vital goal and the last quarter saw Rovers maintain a shut-out to keep Rovers top of their league. Eliza was as busy as a bee and was Rovers' MVP.
