GU14 Ospreys Attack Brilliantly vs Epsom

Ospreys were in action this weekend in the Cup, with half term and illness accounting for some missing regular players there were five GU12s drafted straight into the squad of 12 so a special thanks to Darcey O, Isabelle G, Chloe T, Harri W and Lara A.
Ospreys started the match with attacking intent and got off to a great start with Saksena scoring early doors (1-0) following early possession dominating down both flanks. This was shortly followed by a shot from Thomas that went just wide keeping the pressure high following a great run down the right flank by Osikoya. Wheeler put Ospreys up (2-0) after good transition of the ball by Osborne.
Ospreys had their second short corner in succession and Tempest went close with a shot into the side netting. Saksena scored direct from the resultant 16 with a solo run (3-0). Epsom hit back with two quick attacks but Ospreys maintained good defensive shape and cover for each other coupled with continued exceptional transition play from Osborne taking ball deep into the Epsom half and resulting in great opportunities around the Epsom D.
Tempest put Ospreys up with another goal (4-0) after good work down left wing from Amin L. Epsom hit back to achieve a short corner but Ospreys defended their lines. Saksena completed her hat-trick (5-0) after a great team move from deep in Ospreys half.
Ospreys finished the half with a continued stream of possession around Epsom’s D with the midfielders, expertly marshalled by Authwall in the middle of the park maintaining the equilibrium, finding assist opportunities as Ospreys had a flurry of three chances on goal. Great possession play by Thomas around the Epsom D set up chance after chance. Tempest scored with a reverse hit (6-0) followed by multiple shots cleared off the line to end the half in absolute domination.

Saksena started off the second half in mirror image of the start of the first half with another goal (7-0) following a great solo run by Amin A into Tempest for a great cross into Saksena to finish. Ospreys achieved a short corner soon after great possession down the right flank, Osborne scoring from the short with a clean shot (8-0). Tempest went close with a shot cleared off the line by Epsom.
Ospreys achieved another short corner after constant possession plays down right flank again. Padget scored from short range with a strong deflected shot (9-0). There appeared to be some player switches / removals at this point given the hefty scoreline. Gould moved into a forward position and put Ospreys up (10-0) with a swift counter attacking solo goal.
Osikoya was strong down the left flank and transitioned Ospreys deep into Epsom’s half, and Thomas scored following a spell of pressure (11-0). Ospreys scored from another short corner, with Osikoya scoring after shot from Thomas was saved (12-0). Following further player switches Epsom scord after a breakaway with an extra player in attack (12-1). A great driving run thereafter from Thomas kept the pressure off a little and there was then a flurry of great saves from Osprey’s keeper Ribet after strong Epsom possession. Gould scored her second with a V-drag and quick shot wrong footing the Epsom keeper to make it a final score of 13-1.
