Girls U10s Win Teddington Tournament

11th December 2023

By Josh Blair

Clean, clinical hockey…

Surbiton GU10s attended the Teddington Tournament on Sunday the 10th of December and they put into practice all that they have learned so far this season from their fantastic coaches. There were lovely transfers round the back and good long balls directly onto sticks. The midfield passing and hustle to win the ball was superb and the stick skills shown by the forwards was only bettered by their finishing on goal.

Surbiton sailed into the finals not losing a game, scoring over twenty goals and only conceding two (one game was a 5-0 win).

The final was a cagey affair for the first half as Surbiton kept Woking pinned in their own half as the numerous shots on goal were saved by the Woking goalie or a scrambling defender on the line. Woking managed to break free twice but some great hustle from our girls repelled their attacks.

Happy faces were seen both on and off the pitch when the final whistle blew and the game ended in a 1-0 win to Surbiton. The GU10 team was ere undefeated and everyone on the sidelines who braved rain and wind were super proud of their girls who played really good looking hockey keeping their formation all tournament long. A testament to their training and their total concentration to produce clean, clinical hockey.
