Sparks 3 – 0 Wimbledon 4s (A)
By Ruth Fraser
The Sparks were away at Wimbledon for an early morning game. The team started strong with some beautiful movement of the ball and strong skills. Charlotte scored an early goal from a penalty corner motivating the team after last week’s loss. 1-0, this was a great start from the Sparks.
Lianne used her pace and silky skills down the right and placed the ball in the back of the goal for 2-0. Wimbledon did their best to get the ball out of defence, but the Sparks had all areas covered.
Heading towards the end of the first half Ffion had a great run down the left hand side and banged the ball in the back of the goal to make it 3-0 going into half time.
The second half did see Wimbledon press on our defence and a couple of penalty corners were given away. The Sparks kept them at bay. We didn’t see any further goals from the Sparks, but we saw some beautiful play, aerials from Jess and Amelia.
Great win for the Sparks as it was truly a team effort.
POM - Amelia for her strong tackles, distribution, and aerials.
DOD - Ruth for forgetting most of the team’s names (menopause brain fog)
