Ladies 5s 2 – 1 Wimbledon 4s
We started the match well in our 4-2-2-2 formation. In the first half Rosina put us 1-0 on the scoreboard, however Wimbledon scored their first goal in quick succession and we ended the first half at 1-1.
At half time we changed our press slightly and it paid off with a second goal from Emma after some amazing play. The score was now 2-1 to Surbiton, however Mimi didn’t quite catch on and for the next 20 minutes of the game was convinced we were 2-1 down which earned her the privileged title of DOD. The remainder of the game consisted of some brilliant play from both teams, Marlijn kept Wimbledon’s forwards on their toes and stopped three great shots in the D. Despite the improved play there were no more goals for either side and at full time the score was 2-1 to Surbiton.
Player of the Match went jointly to Helen for her impressive diving skills when tackling, Simran for her persistent attack up the right channel and Lily for her game changing movement of the ball from the left of the pitch to the right resulting in a goal.
