By Colin Pike
Surbiton Ladies' second team maintained their seven point lead over second placed Exe in the Investec Women's Hockey League Conference West after a 1-1 draw in Devon at Saturday lunchtime.
Alice Klugman put Surbiton ahead in the 17th minute but Exe replied through Caitlin Searle's 24th minute penalty corner conversion.
Third placed Oxford University missed the chance to leap-frog Exe into second place when they lost 2-1 in Bristol to Clifton Robinsons' second team.
The win saw Clifton Robinsons move up to fourth, to close the gap to two points behind Exe, with Oxford Hawks and Basingstoke a point further behind
Surbiton are at home to Oxford Hawks this coming Saturday (15 February) at 2 pm, following Surbiton Ladies resumption in the IWHL Premier Division against Loughborough Students (push back 12 noon).
