Sparticans Dominate to Win 4-2
By Ben Walker
Sparticans 4 – 2 NPL M1s
Spartican of the Day: Lewis Curtis
A solid effort from the Sparticans on Saturday brought around a 4-2 win away against the NPL Men’s 1s away in Teddington. A dominant performance saw the Sparticans dominating possession throughout the match creating numerous chances. A unfortunate start to the match seeing NPL score first from a counter-attack was swiftly responded to by a well-worked goal from Lewis.
The team continued to dominate the game and score more goals through the likes of Richard, Kevin and Steven. A great father-son link up was created between Richard and Lewis by a defence slicing pass from Lewis meeting Richard at the far post with a poachers finish.
The Sparticans continued to dominate the midfield applying good pressure to the opposition defence forcing errors. A sublime team move working their way through the opposition’s defence saw an unfortunate miss from Ben at the far post from a bouncing pass across the D. Another quick break from NPL saw another counter-attacking goal which was soon cancelled out by a great solo effort from Steven, dribbling through the whole of the oppositions defence with a clean finish in the bottom corner.
Overall a well fought victory for the Sparticans over the weekend further cheering the South Africans amongst the team after the rugby result. We retired to the NPL clubhouse, where an older school tea awaited us, in contrast to the gastronomic smorgasbord we have become used to at SHC...
Well played to all the team as we continue onwards for our next fixture against Kenley Men’s 2s on Saturday.
