Men’s 2s 3 - 1 Woking M1s
The match saw us take on Woking 1s at home.
Another late show from Billy Winter and some rapid hands from Tom Fox across the side-line contributed towards a somewhat slow start from Surbiton allowing Woking to capitalise putting them 0-1 up for the first half. The recent addition of Jake Thompson to the side, saw the reintroduction of half time oranges! This along with a team talk from Coach Fulker seemed to give the team a very much needed boost.
Surbiton put together a few attacking moves in the first half, and so not long after play restarted in the second, Doidge equalised from a corner allowing the team to settle back down. Clearly his goal ‘high’ got to him, as he finally decided to put some legs in and along with some relatively fast hands managed to work himself into some space at the top of the D only to finish with a pathetic excuse of a reverse leaving the score remaining tied.
Minutes later Dave secured the second for the team having been set up by several well strung together passes orchestrated by the eventual joint man of the match, Rhys. Billy despite his late arrival managed to get on the score sheet putting away the third and final goal of the game making the final score 3-1.
A quality performance from Max, if we ignore his countless complaints to the umpire and green card, made up the other half of the man of the match.
Next weekend we travel away to Maidenhead who currently sit 8th in the league.
