L2 Extend Lead At Top Of Conference West
By Colin Pike
Surbiton Ladies' second team will go into 2020 with a four point lead over second placed Exe and a game in hand after a 3-1 away win at Oxford University on Saturday
Surbiton led 2-0 at half time, Hannah Denison opening the scoring in the 24th minute from open play and Tasmin Cookman also scoring from open play at the end of the first half.
Oxford University pulled a goal back in the 41st minute due to Shona McNab converting a penalty corner, but Denison struck again six minutes from time to ensure Surbiton returned with all three points.
Exe did not have a fixture, but Oxford Hawks missed the chance to move into second place after they lost 2-1 at Team Bath Buccaneers.
The season resumes on 1 February when Surbiton are at home to Cheltenham (push back 2 pm). When the teams met back in October, Surbiton won 7-0.
