Girls Under 16 Magpies 2 – 2 Spencer Girls U16 Wasps

After a sleepy start, where we went 1-0 down in the first ten minutes, the girls woke up and played a tough game of end to end hockey.  Before the end of the first half Gemma managed to bring us level with a powerful hit that rebounded off the backboard.

The second half saw another goal by Lily and we thought we were safe as Lyra was managing to keep out any attempts from Spencer to get a ball across the line. After some frustrating near misses and failing to score in a couple of short corners against a very skilful Spencer goalie, we had the upper hand in most of the game. However a break though run and some confusion in our defence across the goalmouth saw Spencer managing to get the ball across the line which brought us to 2–2.

Several attempts to get the ball over the line in the last minutes were thwarted and we came away with a draw and more determination to secure the win in the next game.
