BU12 Stoats & Dev B Enjoy Festival at OGS

14th November 2019

Both the Pumas and Tigers sides put in some strong displays on the new blue water based pitch at St George's College.

The Tigers, coached by current GB midfielder Tom Sorsby, put in a strong display all morning but faced a tough first game first up versus Dragons and shipped a few goals.

Having beaten Spencer B, they fared well against Spencer A and the Surbiton Pumas team but were nicked by the odd goal. Nathan F read the game particularly well, stepping out from defence to make strong interceptions. William W in goal showed great agility and didn't flinch when saving a shot with his facemask against the Pumas. Like the Pumas team, the Tigers will see more goal scoring opportunities if they keep a striker high in the opponents’ D, which will come as they play more 7-aside hockey.

The Pumas side moved the ball well around the back and into midfield with good shape. In general the level of possession wasn't matched by their goal tally. Although they scored a hatful against Spencer B (some strong strikes from Teddy) against stronger teams they would do well to have players looking to make one touch finishes/deflections from near the posts rather than speculative strikes from a narrow angle.

A fierce strike into the roof of the net saw the Dragons team take a 1-0 victory, which probably wasn't in keeping with the possession stats. The stand out player, with clever lateral moment and good early passes, was Sam G.
