M1 Return To Super 6s Premier Division

9th January 2026

By Colin Pike

After a season in Division One, Surbiton Men return to the Open/ Men's Super 6s Premier Division this weekend, competing at Whitgift School, hoping to finish in the top four and qualify for the Finals Day at Derby Arena on 1 February.

Surbiton bounced back in style last season, winning all eight games to win promotion back to the Premier Division as Division One champions and having become national outdoor champions in 2025 will be looking to regain the Super 6s title for the first time since they beat Holcombe 3-2 in the 2020 final at the Copper Box Arena.

The competition can be followed over the next two weekends in real time at the England Hockey Altius website here

Surbiton make an early start on Saturday, taking on Hampstead & Westminster in the opening match at 1030, before meeting Southgate at 1430.

On Sunday, Surbiton face Elmbridge rivals and reigning Super 6s champions, Old Georgians at 1300 and then having opened the tournament against Hampstead, complete the first weekend's fixture list with a 1700 match-up with Sevenoaks.

Over the second weekend (17-18 February), Surbiton will play Oxted, who were promoted from Division One with Surbiton last season; Holcombe, Wimbledon and East Grinstead.

After the second weekend, the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals on Finals Day with first playing fourth and second playing third, and the bottom two teams will be relegated to Division One.

Division One will be held at Telford across the next two weekends and Division Two North will take place at Manchester Grammar School whilst Division Two South will be held at Clifton College. Both Division Two tournaments will be completed this weekend with the top three teams from each region qualifying for Division Two National on 24-25 January at Repton.
