Premier Division Hockey Returns This Weekend!

24th February 2025

By Surbiton HC

We are excited for the return of Premier Division action at Sugden Road this Saturday evening!

Top 6 matches are set to begin this Saturday with the return of Women's Premier Division hockey after the winter break. The Men's Premier Division restarts a week later, on Saturday 8th March.

Surbiton Women's 1s start Phase 2 in third position as teams recommence their battle for top spot. The leading side at the conclusion of Phase 2 is guaranteed a place in European club competition in 25/26, while positions in the league table also determine match ups for the business end of the season.

With each of Surbiton's first teams set to play three home fixtures between now and the end of March, with further home matches in April (dates and opposition tbc), there are some great opportunities to watch top hockey at the club.

Saturday's opener is a tricky encounter against second-placed Reading, a side who didn't make the Finals Weekend last season but whom Surbiton have failed to take a league victory against since the 2023/24 campaign. The first match between these two teams ended in a 4-4 draw and with a 6-3 result ending in Reading's favour at the same point last season it's certainly a fixture that promises plenty of goals. The game will be played under the lights with a 18:00 pushback at Sugden Road.

We have a number of gameday events lined up for Premier Division games throughout Phase 2 - details of these are outlined below. U18 spectators can pick up a matchday fan card at the gate - come to four or more games between now and the end of April and get your card stamped for the chance to win prizes!

We look forward to seeing some big crowds supporting the teams over the next few weekends!
