GB’s Will Calnan Set to Rejoin Surbiton
By Surbiton HC
Surbiton HC is delighted to announce that former junior and first team player Will Calnan will rejoin the Men’s 1s for the new season.
Having come through the Surbiton junior system and made his first team debut aged 17, Will left the club in 2016 and returns following stints with Hampstead & Westminster, Southgate and Dutch side HDM. He is also an established senior international with 113 combined caps and represented GB at the Paris 2024 Olympics last summer.
M1 Head Coach Barry Middleton is pleased to have Will back in SHC colours: “Will’s motivation to come back to Surbiton was clear and I am really looking forward to working with him. He is a fast, dynamic player with the ability to eliminate defenders and create attacking openings, and his winning mentality will be great for the group. It’s always fantastic to see players who have come through a club as juniors return to their roots, so it’ll be great to see him in action for the M1 once again.”
Will says, “I’m really excited to return to Surbiton. I was just a kid when I used to play here and to be able to return next season feels like the perfect thing to do. What Barry and the guys achieved this year was amazing and I cannot wait to find my place within this group and push for even more.”
Welcome back to Surbiton, Will!
