Supporting Umpire Development at SHC
By Surbiton HC
The latest news on our SHC Umpire development programme and how you can learn more about helping your club by taking up the whistle.
While we do have a number of fantastic volunteer umpires at SHC, we are always looking for more people to get involved. Whether you can only cover the occasional game or you’d like to take up the whistle a bit more often, umpiring is a great way to give back to the club and develop your own knowledge of the game.
As a club, SHC is very supportive of providing opportunities for people to start out in umpiring and to develop their skills as they become more experienced. We now have a page on the club website dedicated to Umpiring at the club – this has information on how to get involved and some great online development resources.
Umpire Education - Zoom Sessions
The Surrey Hockey Umpire Association is running three educational Zoom sessions during October and November. These will be run by Sean Edwards – a local Surrey umpire now umpiring internationally! Attend all three or simply drop in on one you are interested in:
- Decision-making: Monday 26th October 2020, 6.30-7.30pm
- Positioning: Monday 2nd November 2020, 6.30-7.30pm
- Player & Game Management: Monday 9 November 2020, 6.30-7.30pm
These sessions will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone who are already active umpires – or others who may be thinking about getting involved. Please email Matt to register.
