October's EHL Competition Called Off
By Surbiton HC
The ongoing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of the rescheduled 2019/20 Euro Hockey League tournaments.
The inaugural joint Men’s and Women’s Final 8 events were initially put on hold until October when they were unable to be played over the Easter weekend as planned. The EHL has been forced to call the competition off completely given continuing uncertainties around travel, varying government advice and the inevitable impact that restrictions would have on the EHL fan experience.
It is disappointing news for our Ladies and Men’s 1s, who were due to face Der Club An Der Alster and HC Bloemendaal respectively. However, both teams still have the promise of European club hockey later in the new season, having qualified for the 2020/21 EHL competition due to be held at Easter next year.
