Wales Men, including Surbiton’s Gareth Furlong and Lewis Prosser have jumped up eight places to number 24 in the latest World Rankings List issued by the FIH following the conclusion of the 2017 Continental Championships.

Wales have had a phenomenal year, winning promotion together with Scotland Men to the top tier of the 2019 EuroHockey Championships. Scotland stay in 23rd, a place ahead of Wales, whilst England remain at number 7, the ranking which Great Britain inherit from the top ranked British country.

Belgium have moved up to third from fifth, with Germany going in the opposite direction.

In the Women’s rankings, England stay in second behind the Netherlands, Scotland’s relegation to the second tier of the EuroHockey has seen them drop one place to 18th and Wales stay 26th.

The USA have dropped three places to seventh with Australia moving up to fourth, New Zealand fifth and Germany sixth, all moving up one place.

Again, Great Britain inherit England’s second place as the highest ranked British country.
