Surbiton’s Under-18 teams have work to do on the second day of their respective National Super 6s tournaments after dropping points on day one.

The Boys beat Old Merchant Taylors’ 3-2, but suffered an agonising defeat against Doncaster, narrowly going down 4-3 in Telford.

They had to come from behind to beat Old Merchant Taylors’, Harry Ghosh-Roy opening the scoring in the fifth minute. Rory Calnan led the comeback before further goals from Michael Moran and Max Lowrey gave Surbiton a 3-1 lead with two minutes remaining. Kailen Patel pulled a goal back for OMT, but Surbiton opened with a win.

Doncaster proved tougher opposition, but it was Surbiton who took the lead through Lowrey in the second minute. Doncaster fought back with two quick goals from Harry Goodall and Dan West, but Calnan levelled a minute before half time. Matthew White was Doncaster’s match winner with two goals in the 16th and 20th minute, but although Scott Jones scored a last minute goal, Surbiton fell to a 4-3 defeat.

The Girls had to settle for two draws at Whitgift, 1-1 with Repton and 2-2 with Old Loughtonians. Both goals in the Repton game came in the first half, Hannah Davey giving Repton a first minute lead with Fifi Robinson equalising at the end of the first half.

The second match against Old Loughtonians saw the Essex club come back from 2-0 down to earn the draw.  Autumn Brown and Robinson gave Surbiton a two goal lead by the fifteenth minute, but Olivia Corry pulled a goal back with four minutes to play and Charlotte James-Pajwani scored a last minute leveller for Old Loughtonians.
