Both Surbiton Under-16 teams saw their national campaigns ended at the semi-final stage at Wolverhampton.
The Under-16 Boys lost 3-2 on penalty strokes to Guildford and the Under-16 Girls lost 3-2 to Stourport.
The Boys had beaten Team Bath 6-3 and Bowdon 4-1 on Saturday and continued their fine form with two more victories on Sunday. Max Anderson, Spencer Wood, Conor Williamson and Finn Cooper all scored in a 4-1 win over Old Loughtonians, whose score was Henry Dean.
Their attack was even more prolific against Leicester Men, running out 6-1 winners after Tom Moorhouse gave Leicester a second minute lead. Williamson scored a hat-trick and Wood notched a brace with Olly Witts also scoring to ensure Surbiton finished top of their pool.
The semi-final against Guildford was a low scoring affair, Will Firth giving Guildford the lead before Williamson equalised with just two minutes to play. Williamson and Joe Farmer scored in the shootout with Max Anderson the unlucky player not to score. Harry Relph, Hobie Ambrose and William Tristem all scored for Guildford.
Guildford lost 3-1 to Cheltenham in the final.

The Girls had beaten Isca 5-1 and Brooklands Poynton 5-2 on Saturday, but found Repton too strong on Sunday, Issy Carey scoring Surbiton’s goal in a 3-1 defeat. Claudia Swain scored Repton’s first and last goals, with Imogen Hatton giving Repton a 2-0 lead.
Carey scored both goals in the Girls’ 2-1 win over Canterbury after Sian Emslie opened the scoring for the Kent club.
Carey also broke the deadlock in the semi-final against Stourport after just two minutes, but Surbiton were stunned when Stourport scored three unanswered goals, Lottie Atkinson scoring twice with Sophie Thompson scoring the third in the penultimate minute. Darcy Bourne immediately reduced the deficit to 3-2 but there wasn’t enough time left to snatch an equaliser.
Stourport lost 2-1 to Marlow in the final.
