Surbiton Under-16 Girls are on course for the semi-finals after day one of the Super Sixes Championships in Wolverhampton after beating Brooklands Poynton 8-0 to record their second victory of the tournament.
Brooklands Poynton had lost 7-0 to Repton in their first match and were undone by a superb four goal effort from Tamera Cookman to take her tally to six goals from two games.
Cookman opened the scoring with a fifth minute penalty corner with Matilda Gough adding an open play goal two minutes later. In added on time at the end of the first half, Monet Stuckey’s penalty corner conversion gave Surbiton a 3-0 half time lead.
Maddie Long scored Surbiton’s fourth goal in the 14th minute before Cookman scored three goals in as many minutes to establish a 7-0 lead. Pippi Spawforth scored Surbiton’s final goal in the last minute to complete a comprehensive victory.
Repton lead Surbiton on goal difference and the teams meet in a key game at 9 am on Sunday morning with Surbiton due to face Harleston Magpies in their final pool game.
