Surbiton’s Under-16 Boys boosted their chances of topping Pool A and qualifying for the final with an 8-0 win over Norwich City, all eight goals coming in the first half.

With Bowdon drawing 1-1 with Team Bath Buccaneers in the other match, if Surbiton beat Team Bath Buccaneers, they will reach the final and if they draw Bowdon would need to beat Norwich by at least nine goals to pip Surbiton.

Norwich were overwhelmed, trailing 4-0 after just eight minutes. Conor Williamson scored in the fourth minute, Zac Long then scored twice in the fifth and sixth minutes with Olly Witts adding a fourth in the eighth minute, all four goals coming from open play.

Norwich then held out for ten minutes before Joe Farmer converted a penalty corner, Max Anderson scoring open play goals in the 20th and 25th minutes either side of Williamson’s 22nd minute penalty corner conversion.

Incredibly, there were no further goals in the second half, but Surbiton are in a good position to clinch their place in the final when they meet Team Bath at 10.20 am on Sunday.
