Surbiton’s Under-14 Girls, the current national champions, stormed their way into the final of the Under-14 EHCC tournament with a 5-0 win over UHC Hamburg at Sugden Road on Saturday night.

Surbiton had beaten Mannheimer 3-0 and ‘s-Hertogenbosch 1-0 to top their pool, whilst Hamburg had beaten Cork Harlequins 2-1 and lost 6-0 to Amsterdam to finish second in their pool.

Surbiton led after just nine minutes, Tasmin Cookman scoring from a penalty stroke after a foul in the circle. Surbiton then scored three goals in four minutes, Boau-Lilly Shepherd scoring in the 15th minute, Jenny O’Grady adding a third goal a minute later and Maddie Long scoring the fourth goal in the 18th minute as the Hamburg goal was virtually under siege.

Tasmin Cookman completed the scoring a minute from time, the games on Saturday being played in two halves of 20 minutes.

Surbiton will face a rematch against ‘s-Hertogenbosch, 2-1 winners over Amsterdam in the second semi-final, in Sunday’s final at 11.20 am at KGS. The classification matches which will also see Mannheimer play Cork Harlequins for fifth at 8.40 am and UHC Hamburg face AH&BC Amsterdam for third at 10 am, will be played over two halves of 25 minutes.
