Match Report written by Noa Armelin.
On Sunday 7th May the U10 Robins team took part in the Southern County Regionals which were held at our home ground at Sugden Road. The team was made up of: Emilia Pitts, Natalie Barnicoat, Hannah Klugman, Josie Roux, Matilda Gibson, Lucy Morris, Lauren Ingles, Gabriella Khan, Roxy Lamming and myself, Noa Armelin.
Our first game was against Wallingford and after some skilful play and a great goal scored off a late short corner played after the whistle had blown, we won 2-0.
We went on to face Eastbourne where our defence was impenetrable and our attack was on fire leading us to a 3-0 victory.
London Wayfarers held a strong fight and whilst there were some great opportunities produced by the whole team we didn’t quite manage to edge the ball into the goal.
We came first in our group so went on to play East Grinstead in the semi-final with a winning goal leading us to the finals 1-0!
Wimbledon, our main rivals and the team we beat on penalties in the Surrey tournament, were our opposing team in the final so we were a little bit nervous. We went out onto the pitch confident however that we could win. They gave us a good challenge but we still managed to score a goal. Our supporters on the side line were embarrassingly loud bringing a smile to our faces…a smile that only got bigger when we realised that we had won!
Thank you to all of our coaches and in particular Fred for all the time he gave to us with extra training sessions in the week before.
