Now that the dust has settled and the grounds have been cleared, I should like to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work over the course of the EuroHockey club championships.

The club has received overwhelmingly positive feedback, including from the European Hockey Federation (EHF), officials, participating teams, Board members and officials from England Hockey, and other visitors. This is testament not only to the hard work put in over several months by the organising committee, but to everyone else who helped in whatever capacity during the event.

The club is dependent on volunteers, and the willingness of each one of you to go the extra mile is what helped to make the event so special. There was a real buzz about the place and visitors were delighted by the friendly welcome they received and the wonderful atmosphere throughout the event.

Our visitors on ParaHockey Day and from Hockey 4 Heroes also enjoyed their time with us and were proud and delighted to have been part of such a special event. It was a privilege to have been able to showcase these two worthy causes and we are grateful to everyone who took part and helped make this possible. I hope that we will soon be able to start of our own Flyerz hockey network.

It was also especially gratifying to hear that several children who attended the early sessions on Thursday were so enthused by what they experienced that they persuaded their parents to bring them back to watch the later sessions. This is what it is all about.

The event has left us with a legacy of improvements to the club’s infrastructure and will be a stepping stone to greater things. I can think of no better way to end my time as Club Captain.

Once again, I thank you for your selfless effort and commitment. You showcased the club and its people in the best possible light and I hope that you enjoyed being part of such a successful event.

Kind regards,

Mark Waller
Club Captain
