Surbiton Hockey Club is pleased to announce that the European Hockey Federation (EHF) has selected Sugden Road to be the venue of the EuroHockey Clubs Cup from 18-21 May 2018.
Surbiton Ladies have qualified for the last three tournaments, which were all held in the Netherlands and now will have the opportunity to battle in the top European competition on home turf for the first time.
Joining Surbiton will be ‘HC-Hertogenbosch, the current EHCC champions together with AH&BC Amsterdam.
UHC Hamburg and Mannheimer HC will represent Germany whilst Club Campo Villa de Madrid are the Spanish representatives.
UCD are Ireland’s qualifiers with Belarus completing the line-up by Victoriya Smolevichi. Belarus replaced Russia after the ranking tables were recalculated after the last tournament. With Germany having two teams in the top tier, Investec Women’s Hockey League runners-up, Holcombe will play in the Trophy,
Today’s announcement by the EHF means that the top three women’s European competitions will all be held in the British Isles, with the second tier Trophy having previously been awarded to Dublin and the third tier Challenge I tournament scheduled to be held in Edinburgh.
The second edition of the Junior EHCC will also be held with all eight qualifying clubs having been invited to enter their Under-14 Girls teams.
