Surbiton Hockey Club today confirmed the signing of two more international players who have joined the club ahead of the 2016 – 2017 season.
Brendan Creed and David Goodfield will join the Surbiton Men’s squad from Harvestehuder THC in Germany where they were members of the team that finished 3rd in the 2016 Euro Hockey League (EHL).
Creed and Goodfield have had very similar playing careers. Prior to their time in Germany, both played for Sheffield Hallam HC and were members of the England U21 squad that played in the 2013 Junior World Cup in New Delhi, India.
In 2014 they were in the Great Britain U21 squad that won silver in the 2014 Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia and part of the England team that won bronze in the U21 European Championships. In 2015, both were selected for the England U23 squad.
Brendan Creed commented: “Playing in Germany has been a great experience for me and I am excited about the next stage in my career by joining Surbiton HC. I really enjoyed the challenge of playing in the EHL and I have high aspirations to qualify for Europe again with Surbiton and help them to become successful in the league and Championship play-offs.”
David Goodfield stated: “I am really looking forward to joining Surbiton HC and being a part of what the club is looking to achieve over the next few seasons. Playing at Harvestehuder THC has helped me to develop as a player and I know that Surbiton is the right club environment for me to take the next step in my hockey career.”
Mark Pearn, Head Coach of Surbiton HC’s Men’s section commented: “I am delighted that Brendan and David have agreed to make Surbiton HC home on their return from playing in Germany. Their undoubted quality, combined with experience of playing in the Euro Hockey League and the very competitive German league, make them excellent additions to our current squad.”
