Scotland Women continued their preparations for the Rabo EuroHockey Championships in Amsterdam winning the first of a three match series, 4-1 against France in Glasgow on Friday night.
Surbiton’s Robyn Collins was in the Scottish starting line-up, alongside former Surbiton goalkeeper, Amy Gibson, whilst two other former Surbiton players: Becky Merchant and Kate Holmes joined the action in the sixth and eighth minutes respectively.
Scotland fell behind in the sixth minute, Julie Martinot putting France ahead, but Nikki Lloyd equalised in the second quarter, converting a penalty stroke in the 21st minute.
Scotland then took the lead for the first time in the 41st minute through Charlotte Watson. In the fourth quarter, a 48th minute goal from Fiona Burnet and a goal two minutes from time from Katie Robertson gave Scotland an excellent start to the weekend.
Collins had almost scored early in the fourth quarter, but her penalty corner shot sped past the left post.
With the world rankings updated earlier this week, Scotland (17) and France (25) maintained their rankings.
The second game takes place on Sunday (30 July) at 1 pm, with the last game on Monday (31 July) at 11 am.
