Scotland Men are now top of the Hockey Series Open table after a 2-0 win over Gibraltar on Thursday afternoon. Russia and Belarus, Scotland’s remaining opponents, both lost their one hundred per cent records after drawing 2-2 in the first match of the day.
As against Turkey, Scotland broke out of the traps early, Cameron Golden looping a deflection over the goalkeeper in just the third minute.
Gibraltar defended five penalty corners, Surbiton’s Willie Marshall and Tim Atkins both thwarted during the match, but Scotland doubled their lead when an attack saw the ball crossed for the right for Robert Harwood to slot home in the 34th minute.
Marshall and Atkins were both in the Scottish starting lineup.
