Scotland Men finished fourth at the FIH Series Finals in Le Touquet, France after losing 5-0 to Korea in the third place playoff on Sunday.

Scotland had lost their semi-final against hosts, France 3-0 on Saturday, but finished above their world ranking and met the target of reaching the semi-finals.

Scotland played both weekend matches without Surbiton’s Nick Parkes. Scotland were also struck a double blow in the 13th minute of their semi against France as Etienne Tynevez and Blaise Rogeau scored from a penalty corner and open play respectively but only conceded a further goal when Hugo Genestet slotted home a penalty stroke in the 51st minute.

Against Korea, Scotland held out until the 27th minute when Byungjin Jeon scored from open play. Namyong Lee doubled Korea’s lead in the 32nd minute before Jonghyun Jang scored a third goal in the 41st minute from a penalty corner.

Sunghyun Jang scored Korea’s fourth goal as the third quarter expired with Jang completing the scoring with a 50th minute penalty corner conversion.
