Surbiton Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Phoebe Willars is Surbiton Ladies’ third signing in advance of the 2018-19 season.

Willars, a 21 year old defender, comes to Surbiton from Leicester after graduating from the University of Nottingham. She is a member of the GB Elite Development Programme (EDP) which was launched in October 2017 to develop medal winning Olympians of the future.

Willars is the younger cousin of England and Great Britain hockey player, Ollie.  Phoebe joined him registered as a national league player at Beeston in 2014. She moved to Leicester for the 2017-18 season.

Looking forward to joining Surbiton, Willars said,  “I have enjoyed playing some tough games against Surbiton over the last few years and am now delighted to become part of this exceptionally talented group.  Surbiton set high standards and I know it is the environment I need to develop my hockey skills and experience.  I’m really looking forward to getting started.
