Auckland, including Surbiton Ladies’ Beckie Middleton saw their hopes of regaining the Ford National League title ended by Midlands, 3-1 winners in the second semi-final in Wellington on Friday.

Midlands raced into a 3-0 lead in the first 25 minutes, with former Surbiton player and Auckland captain, Julia King scoring what proved to be her side’s consolation goal with eleven minutes to play.

Both Middleton and King were in Auckland’s starting line-up.

Auckland will now play North Harbour for the bronze medal at 9 pm BST on Saturday. Midlands play Northland, 3-2 winners over North Harbour in the first semi-final, in the tournament final.
