Surbiton’s Zach Wallace was a member of the England Men’s Under-21 team which finished as runners-up to Germany in th EuroHockey Junior Championships in Valencia, Spain.

England finished second in Pool A behind Spain after a 6-2 win over Poland and 1-1 draws with both Belgium and Spain.

Wallace scored twice against Poland with open play goals in the 28th and 54th minutes and secured a point against Belgium with an equaliser in the 43rd minute, also from open play, the 1-1 draw eventually booking a place in the last four for England.

England then went on to beat the Netherlands in the semi-final before losing out to Germany 5-3 in the final as both pool runners-up met in the final. The Netherlands pipping hosts Spain to the bronze medals with a 3-1 win.

England also qualify for the Under-21 World Cup.
