Surbiton Men’s Lewis Prosser and Gareth Furlong were both in the Welsh squad which played a three test series in Poland this weekend. They were both in the Welsh starting lineup for all three games.
On Friday evening, Poland won the first match in Gniezno 1-0, Mikolaj Gumny scoring the only goal from open play with four minutes to play.
On Saturday, Poland clinched the series with a 3-1 win in game two. Poland led 2-0 at half time with a 25th minute open play goal from Bartosz Zywiczka and a penalty corner conversion three minutes later from Michal Kasprzyk.
Kasprzyk extended the Polish lead in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot, with Jolyon Morgan scoring the Welsh consolation goal at the start of the fourth quarter from open play, on his international debut.
In the third game at Sunday lunchtime, Wales beat Poland 1-0, former Surbiton player Robert Mugridge converting a penalty corner a minute before half time.
The first game also saw former Surbiton goalkeeper, David Kettle win his 100th cap, and then became Wales’ most capped goalkeeper with his 102nd cap in the third match.
Another former Surbiton player, Rupert Shipperley won his 50th Welsh cap in the second match.
