Surbiton Men, who won their first Men’s Hockey League Premier Division match of the season last Saturday night in a 5-3 thriller with Canterbury, welcome fourth placed East Grinstead to Sugden Road on Sunday (push back 2 pm).

East Grinstead have re-signed Ashley Jackson from Holcombe, Jackson scoring twice in his side’s 3-1 home win over Brooklands Manchester University last Sunday.

East Grinstead had also had to battle before overcoming Canterbury 4-3 in Kent in the second week of the season having been held to a 2-2 home draw by Reading on the opening day of the season, Edward Carson scoring for the visitors in the penultimate minute.

Surbiton, currently in sixth, unluckily lost 3-2 at Holcombe on the opening day of the season then showed true character to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Hampstead and Westminster.

Wimbledon and Beeston take part in a top of the table clash in South West London, with Hampstead & Westminster at home to Brooklands Manchester University.

Reading host Canterbury in part two of a women’s/ men’s doubleheader at Sonning Lane.

Holcombe’s match at Loughborough Students has been postponed until 29 October due to Holcombe’s participation in the Euro Hockey League this weekend.

Holcombe are in Banbridge in Ireland where they are due to take on Poznan and Kampong in their attempt to qualify and join Wimbledon in the knockout stages.

Cardiff & Met, the leaders in the MHL Conference West are also in the Emerald Isle, so their game with Chichester has also been postponed this weekend.

Cardiff beat Italian club, SG Amiscora ASD 5-0 and face a tough task against UHC Hamburg of Germany on Sunday.
