Surbiton Men lost 4-1 to Austrian club, SV Arminen on Sunday to finish seventh overall, leading to England’s relegation to the second division Trophy in 2018-19.
East Grinstead, the 2018 Jaffa Super 6s Champions will be aiming for promotion next season.
Arminen were runners-up in last season’s Cup, but needed to beat Surbiton to avoid relegation themselves.
In Wettingen, Arminen took the lead in the fifth minute, Michael Minar scoring from just inside the circle.
In the twelfth minute, Patrick Schmidt passed to Manuel Grandits to double Arminen’s lead, both goals coming from open play.
Holding a 2-0 lead at half time, Arminen extended their lead in the 31st minute, Dariusz Rachwalski’s penalty corner drag-flick edging Surbiton towards a bottom two finish.
Needing to increase their attacking options, Lewis Prosser wore the kicking back bib, but Alexander Bele took full advantage following a breakaway attack, firing the ball into the empty net from wide left of the circle.
Surbiton scored a consolation goal with seconds remaining, Alan Forsyth ending the tournament with six goals following a strike from the right of the circle.
In the first match of the day, hosts, HC Rotweiss Wettingen beat CSV Complutense 2-1 to consign the Spanish club to fourth place in Pool C and relegation.
