Sevenoaks maintained their one hundred per cent record in the Jaffa Super Sixes Premier Division with a 5-4 win over Surbiton in the first match of the second weekend at Bromsgrove School.
The first half ended even with a 2-2 scoreline after Sevenoaks led twice. Joe Naughalty gave Sevenoaks a second minute lead only for William Marshall to equalise four minutes later. David Smith restored Sevenoaks’ advantage in the tenth minute only for Alan Forsyth to level with a penalty corner conversion in the 14th minute.
Surbiton then took the lead in the 23rd minute through Niall Stott’s penalty corner, only for Sevenoaks to fight back to lead 4-3 with goals from Rufus McNaught Barrington (penalty corner) in the 26th minute and George Torry two minutes later.
Stott made the score 4-4 in the 30th minute, but McNaught-Barrington’s penalty stroke with five minutes remaining proved to be the winning goal.
