Surbiton Men continued their rise up the Jaffa Super 6s Premier Division table, beating Sevenoaks 6-1 at Bromsgrove School on Sunday lunchtime to move up to third.

Surbiton made the perfect start, taking the lead through Alan Forsyth’s penalty corner conversion in the third minute. However, the reigning champions were stunned when Sevenoaks, the team Surbiton beat 8-1 at the semi-final stage at Wembley Arena back in January, levelled a minute later, Duncan Parnis scoring through open play.

Surbiton led 2-1 at half time, Hendrik Geyer restoring Surbiton’s lead in the 15th minute.

The score stayed 2-1 until the 30th minute, when Jonny Gall and Rob Farrington both scored to quickly extend Surbiton’s lead to 4-1.

Geyer scored two open play goals in the 38th and 40th minutes to complete his hat-trick and clinch a convincing win.

With everybody having played three games with the exception of bottom club, Loughborough Students, Surbiton moved up to third behind Wimbledon and Team Bath Buccaneers, who both boasted 100 per cent records. Wimbledon beat Brooklands Manchester University 4-3 in the first match on Sunday morning, with Team Bath beating Reading 3-2.

Surbiton complete their first weekend’s work with a match against Reading, who go into the match looking for their first win after defeats to Brooklands (8-6), Wimbledon (6-5) and Team Bath.
