Surbiton Men make the long trip to Manchester on Sunday when they face Brooklands Manchester University in the Men’s Hockey League Premier Division (push back 12.15 pm).
The game will be played at Georges Lane, Sale, Cheshire M33 3NL and admission is £5.
Both teams have had contrasting fortunes this season with Surbiton having won two games and drawn one with Brooklands having lost their first two games before earning their first point of the season at Sevenoaks last Sunday.
Brooklands lost 3-1 at home to Holcombe on the opening weekend and then lost out in a seven goal thriller at Reading. David Flanagan scored all three goals at Reading with one goal from open play, one from a penalty corner and one from the penalty spot to become Brooklands’ leading goalscorer with their other goals scored by Sam Perrin and Peter Flanagan.
Matches in Sale in the last two seasons have both ended as thrilling 3-3 draws.
The meeting last November ended 3-3 only after Arjan Drayton Chana scored in the penultimate minute
The return match, brought forward to January due to Surbiton competing in European indoor hockey saw Surbiton win 5-1
Surbiton will be encouraged after coming away from East Grinstead with all three points following their 4-0 win last Saturday night.
Reading are at home to East Grinstead on Saturday night with Beeston hosting the University of Exeter; Sevenoaks welcoming Hampstead & Westminster to Kent and Wimbledon returning from the Euro Hockey League to face a tough test against free scoring Holcombe, all on Sunday afternoon.
