Having already made an exploratory trip to the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last Tuesday evening (24 March) for squad practice, the Men’s 1st XI return there this Thursday (2 April, 8.00 for 8.30pm).

M1 will play a full-scale friendly fixture played to NOW: Pensions Men’s Championships tournament rules against Canterbury, ahead of the finals taking place at that venue two weekends after (11/12 April).

NPMHL Premier Division second-placed Surbiton play the second semi-final at 4.30pm on the Saturday (11 April) against third-placed Wimbledon. Ninth-placed Canterbury have their second League Play-off fixture against Conference East champions Holcombe at 10am that morning.

Both sides have already won their first play-off all-meet-all mini-league fixtures at Cannock HC last Sunday (29 March): Canterbury beating Conference West champions Team Bath Buccaneers 7-1 and Holcombe Conference North champions Bowdon 4-3.

On Finals Sunday at Lee Valley (12 April) Surbiton play either the winners or losers of the previous day’s first semi, league winners East Grinstead or fourth-placed Beeston, in either the third-place final at 1pm or the championship final at 3.15pm.

Canterbury have their last play-off match against Bowdon at 10.45pm that morning, with Team Bath playing Holcombe at the same time (there are two pitches at Lee Valley): the top two teams either staying in, or being promoted to, the Premier Division.
