Surbiton Ladies take on Holcombe at 4 pm on Sunday at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in the Investec Women’s Hockey League Championships Final.
The matchup is a repeat of last season’s final
This season’s meetings have been eventful with Surbiton winning 3-1 at Holcombe Park in October to return to the top of the IWHL Premier Division table after losing 3-1 at the University of Birmingham the weekend before.
The return match was only staged at Sugden Road after a lot of hard work allowed the fixture to beat the freezing weather which saw most of the day’s fixtures called off. Unfortunately for Surbiton Holcombe won 2-1 to record their first ever win against Surbiton in any competition.
This will be the third successive season that Surbiton and Holcombe have met in the playoffs. In 2016, Surbiton won 2-0 in the semi-finals thanks to goals from Giselle Ansley and Olivia Chilton.
Anyone who can’t get to Lee Valley on Sunday can watch both league finals via the BBC Sport website, app and on internet connected TVs.
