Surbiton Ladies start the new Investec Women’s Hockey League season on Saturday when they visit Slough for a 12.30 pm push back.
The game will be played at Upton Court Road, Slough SL3 7LT.
Surbiton will start the season looking for a sixth successive league title, whilst Slough will be aiming to build after preserving their top flight status via the Promotion Tournament after finishing ninth last season on goal difference behind Clifton Robinsons.
Slough have added Lucy Wood to their squad from Holcombe, young goalkeeper, Mila Welch has made the short journey from Reading and another youngster, Kitty Baccanello has joined from Surbiton.
Surbiton were last at Slough as recently as last March when they won 8-1 to book their place in the IWHL Championships
The first meeting at Sugden Road in October 2017 ended 4-2 to Surbiton and gave them a three point lead
Although there will be new names in the Surbiton squad, there will also be a couple of name changes with captain Sarah Haycroft now known as Sarah Evans following her marriage to M1 player Scott Evans and new signing Susie Gilbert is now Susie Catlin now that she is married to Nick Catlin.
With star striker Erica Sanders, who has been in outstanding form for the University of Birmingham in recent seasons having also arrived at Sugden Road together with Welsh international Emily Rowlands from Buckingham and Phoebe Willars from Leicester, Surbiton can once more go into the new season with confidence.
Surbiton have also recently signed New Zealand’s number two international goalkeeper, Grace O’Hanlon.
And with former Surbiton players Stevi Fisher-Norton (University of Birmingham) and Sophie Newton (Edinburgh University) also returning to Elmbridge there will be both new and familiar faces in the 2018-19 Surbiton Ladies squad.
