Sevenoaks ended both Surbiton’s and the University of Birmingham’s faint hopes of going up, coming back from two goals down for the second time to beat Birmingham 3-2.
Surbiton finished fourth after Beeston pipped Sevenoaks to promotion in dramatic fashion, Vikki Bunce scoring a penalty corner in added on time to inflict Buckingham’s only defeat, Beeston winning 5-4 after Buckingham fought back to 4-4 after trailing 3-0 in the first half.

However, Birmingham fought back to end the first half on level terms, former Surbiton player, Harriet Mitchell opening Birmingham’s account in the 16th minute with Jo Turnbull equalising two minutes later.
The second half proved to be a goal fest with seven goals in fifteen minutes. Herzsprung restored Surbiton’s lead with a 25th minute penalty corner conversion, quickly followed by a 27th minute open play goal from Hannah Birchall to restore Surbiton’s two goal advantage.
Flora Peel gave Birmingham hope of a another comeback thanks to her 29th minute penalty corner conversion, reducing Surbiton’s lead to 4-3, but Alessia Robinson’s first indoor goal for Surbiton in the 30th minute, and Maclean’s second goal of the game a minute later, helped Surbiton to pull away with a 6-3 lead.
After a five goal burst in six minutes, the goal scoring paused until the last two minutes. Lauren Hunt scored Birmingham’s fourth goal in the 39th minute, only for Maclean to become the second Surbiton player to score a hat-trick, following Lizzie Gittens’ treble against Sevenoaks with a last minute open play goal.
