Surbiton Ladies play their first home Investec Women’s Hockey League Premier Division match of the season on Saturday (29 September) when they welcome Clifton Robinsons to Sugden Road (push back 4 pm).

The teams last met at Lee Valley in May when Surbiton won the inaugural Investec EH Tier One Championships with a 5-0 victory. having also beaten the Bristol based club in the last Investec Women’s Cup final in 2017.

In the league, Surbiton won both matches 3-1, Hollie Pearne-Webb, Sarah Page and Georgie Twigg scoring at Coombe Dingle in response to Abigail Porter’s goal and a year ago went to the top of the Premier Division table.

Both teams go into the second match of the season having secured away victories and clean sheets on the opening day of the season. Surbiton won 4-0 at Slough and Clifton won 1-0 at Canterbury thanks to Claire Thomas’s goal three minutes before half time.

Clifton narrowly avoided having to preserve their top flight status via the Promotion Tournament last season, finishing eighth courtesy of their better goal difference over Slough.

Admission will be £5 and will cover both the Ladies’ game and the Men’s game versus the University of Exeter which follows at 6 pm.
