Surbiton Ladies play their last Investec Women’s Hockey League Premier Division match of 2018 when they welcome Beeston to Sugden Road for the first game in a men’s/ women’s double header (push back 4 pm).

Admission covering both games is £5.

Surbiton won 3-1 in Nottingham a month ago and the win gave them a five point lead at the top of the table.

However, without their international players, Surbiton lost 1-0 at Holcombe and currently have a three point lead over the Kent club.

Beeston, newly promoted to the top flight have had mixed fortunes this season, narrowly missing out on an opening day win at the University of Birmingham when the hosts scored in the last minute to force a 2-2 draw. A 2-1 defeat at East Grinstead and a 1-1 draw at Bowdon Hightown was followed by their first win of the season at home to Clifton Robinsons 4-3. Then a 2-1 win at Buckingham was tempered by the 3-1 home defeat by Surbiton and a 1-1 home draw with Slough.

A 3-1 win at Canterbury a fortnight ago was cancelled out by a home defeat by the same score by Holcombe, Beeston coming to Elmbridge in sixth place in the league.

Caroline Hanks is Beeston’s leading goalscorer with three goals, with Lauren Burrell, who scored against Surbiton; Sophie Robinson, Bridget Kiddle and Kathryn Lane, having scored in Beeston’s last two games, all on two goals.

Katie McKee, Alice Huddlestone, Caroline Hulme, Sophie McDowell and Rebekkah Walker have all found the net once.

Surbiton last week had to come from behind to beat Canterbury 2-1 and maintain their three point lead at the top of the IWHL Premier Division.

Elsewhere this weekend, Holcombe will be aiming to keep up the pressure on Surbiton with a home win over the University of Birmingham. East Grinstead host Slough; Buckingham make the long trip to Bowdon Hightown and Clifton Robinsons will be hoping to extend their three game winning streak at home to bottom placed Canterbury.
