Great Britain Women crashed to a 5-2 defeat to Argentina in Rosario on Wednesday night to go 3-0 down in the five test series.

Four of Argentina’s five goals came from penalty corners as Las Leonas perfected their routine.

The first goal came in the second minute from Argentina’s first penalty corner of the match, Maria Granatto opening the scoring.

Great Britain equalised in the fifth minute, Alex Danson diving to push home a rebound after Argentinian goalkeeper, Belen Succi saved.

Argentina restored their lead at the end of the first quarter, Granatto scoring from open play after Great Britain carelessly turned the ball over from a free hit.

In the second quarter, Bianca Donati extended Argentina’s lead in the 20th minute and Milagros Fernandez scored in added on time at the end of the half, both goals coming from clinical penalty corners, to leave Great Britain with a mountain to climb facing a 4-1 half time deficit.

A manoeuvred penalty corner routine saw Donati score Argentina’s fifth goal in the 42nd minute, with Danson getting a touch in the centre of the circle from a 53rd minute penalty corner to make the final score 5-2 and score her 50th goal in GB colours.

Surbiton’s Sarah Haycroft, Hollie Pearne-Webb and Jo Hunter were in GB’s starting line-up, with Emily Defroand coming on in the fourth minute and Giselle Ansley and Hannah Martin entering the pitch a minute later.

The fourth test is on Friday at 11 pm GMT (8 pm local time).
