Surbiton’s Alan Forsyth struck twice as Scotland achieved their first victory at the Hockey World League Round 2 tournament in Belfast with a 2-1 win over Poland.

Having lost to France and lost on a shootout to British rivals, Wales, Scotland will finish third in Pool B and will play Austria, the second placed team in Pool A in Thursday’s quarter-final at 2.30 pm.

Forsyth gave Scotland the perfect start with a second minute opener, but having kept their one goal lead until half time, were pegged back three minutes into the third quarter when Dominik Kotulski equalised for Poland..

Forsyth, scored his fourth goal of the tournament with fourteen minutes remaining to give Scotland an important win.

Surbiton’s Willie Marshall joined Forsyth in the Scottish starting line-up, with Nick Parkes coming on from the subs bench in the sixth minute.
