England Head Coach Danny Kerry has named five Surbiton Ladies players in his 20 strong England squad for this weekend’s Investec Internationals against Argentina (World Ranking 3) on Saturday and the Netherlands (WR 1) on Sunday.

Emily Defroand, Sarah Haycroft, Jo Hunter, Hannah Martin and Hollie Webb have all been selected as England prepare for the Hockey World League Semi-Final tournament in Johannesburg, South Africa in July and then defend their EuroHockey Championships title in Amsterdam in August.

Giselle Ansley will not be available having suffered a fractured cheekbone injury which ruled her out of last weekend’s EuroHockey Club Cup tournament in Den Bosch and will undergo surgery on Saturday.

Legend Alex Danson, who joined Clifton Robinsons this season has been named as England’s captain for the summer, including the EuroHockey Championships and later in 2017 a permanent captain and leadership group will be selected.

Kerry said, “We are excited about the upcoming matches and as ever we play to win. Having said that the bigger picture is about looking at some combinations to help us make the best possible selection for the World League. To that end we will be trying some options and exploring the performance of those against some very good opposition.
