On 2 September, an EGM took place to formally elect Carolyn Llewellyn as Vice-Captain of the club (standing, in pink, on the right). The intention is that Carolyn will become Club Captain when Mark Waller steps down at the end of the coming season. As Vice-Captain, Carolyn will join the Board, enabling her to better understand how the club operates, and help to ensure continuity next year.

This is an historic moment in the club’s history. Given the tremendous success of the women’s section, it is only right that this is reflected in the management structure of the club. Carolyn has worked tirelessly for the club down the years and will be a great asset to the Board.

Born in Wales Carolyn started playing senior hockey at Swansea Ladies Hockey Club and played a number of fixtures for the L1 under the Captaincy of Anne Ellis OBE. A move to London saw her working in the Shipping industry for 15 years, managing investor portfolios, then for Hackett responsible for the administration of the merchandise Buy. After a few years away from hockey she joined Merton Hockey club, moving to Surbiton in the late 90’s. Since joining Carolyn has been a Captain, Social Secretary and was Men’s Fixture Secretary.
